On March 9, with spring gradually blooming along the shores of Victoria Harbour, and at the outset of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the Nanjing High-Quality Development Economic and Trade Cooperation (Hong Kong) Exchange Meeting was successfully held in Hong Kong. The meeting aimed to consolidate and enhance the role of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as engines of high-quality development, while deepening cooperation between Nanjing and Hong Kong across various sectors.

Themed “Nanjing Meets Hong Kong · Creating the Future Together,” the exchange meeting was moderated by Mr. Xu Feng, Vice Mayor of the Nanjing Municipal People’s Government. Distinguished guests including Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, the fifth Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Permanent Honorary President of the Hong Kong Jiangsu Association; Ms. Margaret Cheung, President of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council; and Ms. Loletta Lee, Assistant Director-General of Invest Hong Kong, attended and delivered speeches. More than 200 representatives from government agencies, leading enterprises, universities, and business associations from both Nanjing and Hong Kong participated in the event, exploring new opportunities for shared development. Eieling Technology, as a representative innovation-driven enterprise bridging Nanjing and Hong Kong, was honored to be invited to the meeting, engaging with guests from all sectors in dialogue on cooperation and shared growth.
PolyU Research Heritage: A Living Example of Ning-Hong Synergy
Hong Kong enjoys the unique advantage of being “rooted in the motherland while connecting to the world,” while Nanjing possesses a solid and robust industrial foundation. By combining the strengths of both cities, Eieling Technology has achieved a critical leap from laboratory innovation to industrialization. Mr. Jia Xiaojia, CEO and Co-founder of Eieling Technology, stated at the meeting that leveraging the research capabilities of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Nanjing’s favorable industrial environment has enabled Eieling Technology to successfully bring its scientific research achievements to market. Currently, the company’s independently developed FattaLab® Liver Fat Measurement System, with its innovative design and superior detection performance, has received FDA 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. With the support of government authorities at the municipal and district levels in Nanjing, Phase I of the world’s first global super factory for this product has officially been established at the Tianyin Health Innovation Park in Jiangning, Nanjing.

Weighing just 120 grams and equipped with proprietary patented algorithms, FattaLab® won the CES 2026 Innovation Award at its debut. It enables non-invasive, rapid (10-second), and highly accurate detection of liver fat, significantly lowering the barrier to screening and bringing cutting-edge technology out of the laboratory to benefit more people. Mr. Jia Xiaojia remarked: “Hong Kong possesses the ‘financial breadth’ to connect globally and stands at the forefront of research, while Nanjing offers the ‘industrial warmth’ and complete value chain to support the commercialization of hard technologies. Our own story proves that the synergy between the two cities can unleash tremendous energy.”

Deepening Ning-Hong Cooperation to Jointly Promote High-Quality Development
In her speech, Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, the fifth Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Permanent Honorary President of the Hong Kong Jiangsu Association, pointed out that Hong Kong has quality R&D resources but lacks application scenarios, whereas Nanjing, as a core city in the Yangtze River Delta, can provide a broad industrial space for implementation. The growth trajectory of Eieling Technology serves as the best testament to this observation.

At the exchange meeting, Mr. Li Zhongjun, Mayor of Nanjing, vividly summarized the current state of Ning-Hong cooperation with three “trends”: “the boom of Nanjing enterprises listing in Hong Kong, the craze of Nanjing citizens visiting Hong Kong, and the surge of two-way tourism between the two cities.” Data shows that Hong Kong has become the primary source of foreign investment for Nanjing.

Mr. Li Zhongjun, Mayor of Nanjing
Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Eieling Technology will continue to leverage the synergistic advantages of Ning-Hong cooperation, relying on Hong Kong’s international platform and Nanjing’s industrial foundation to drive more innovative outcomes to market. Through technological innovation, the company aims to contribute “China’s solution” to the field of early screening for chronic liver diseases and promote high-quality development in both cities.
