On November 28, 2024, Professor Li Jie’s team from Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital exchanged views with Professor Zheng Yongping from the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Jia Xiaojia, General Manager of Eieling Technology, and team members on fatty liver screening, new technology introduction, and scientific research cooperation.
Professor Zheng Yongping has been selected as one of the top 2% of scientists in the world for three consecutive years. He has rich experience in scientific research and industrialization. His main research includes biomedical ultrasound instruments, soft tissue elasticity measurement and imaging, 3D ultrasound imaging, and other technologies. Eieling Technology Limited, which he founded, was selected as one of the “Forbes Asia 100 Companies to Watch” in 2023. Professor Zheng introduced the world’s first portable liver elastic instrument independently developed by the team, which integrates two technologies: instantaneous elastic imaging and real-time ultrasound image guidance. It has great convenience for going deep into medical schools, community clinics, nursing homes, and even pharmacies and other social and living communities. It will effectively solve the long-standing problems of large liver disease screening equipment, high cost, and late stage.
Professor Li Jie introduced the team’s early work in the field of fatty liver, including taking the lead in establishing the first “Fatty Liver All-specialty Diagnosis and Treatment Alliance” in China, opening the “Fatty Liver Academy” column, and has joined more than 100 member units in the Yangtze River Delta to carry out the “Fatty Liver All-specialty Standardized Diagnosis and Treatment Base Construction Project”. At present, the infection department team of Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital is working closely with various community health service centers in Nanjing to improve the ability of grassroots doctors to identify and standardize the management of fatty liver patients and promote the full, standardized and standardized diagnosis and treatment system of fatty liver.
Professor Li Jie said that for chronic liver disease, especially fatty liver disease, “early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment” are still important themes. Elastic imaging ultrasound instruments with accurate detection, simple operation, convenient carrying, and affordable price are crucial for community and grassroots doctors. The infection department of Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital will work closely with Professor Zheng Yongping’s team to cooperate in the introduction of new technologies and the promotion of liver disease screening.
