On November 30, 2024, Professor Zheng Yongping, the founding director of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the dean of the Polytechnic Institute for Intelligent Aging (RISA), and the founder and chief scientist of Eieling Technology was invited to participate in the HOY Information Channel (Hong Kong Free TV News Financial Information Channel) exclusive interview. This interview focused on the severe situation of liver cancer and discussed the performance and future development blueprint of the Liverscan portable liver elastography ultrasound diagnostic system independently developed by his team.
During the interview, Professor Zheng first compared the current detection methods for fatty liver and hypertension. He pointed out that although the incidence rates of both are close to 30%, there is a significant gap between the detection of fatty liver and hypertension in terms of the convenience of detection. In response to this challenge, Professor Zheng Yongping’s team independently developed Liverscan, a portable liver elastography ultrasound diagnostic system. He explained that one of Liverscan’s major innovations is combining ultrasound testing with real-time image-assisted positioning to provide users with accurate and reliable liver health assessments.
When Professor Zheng mentioned Liverscan’s operational convenience, he pointed out that its wireless and portable design gives the device a high degree of flexibility in different scenarios. After a brief training, both professionals and the public can master its operation. At the same time, the cost of Liverscan has been significantly reduced, creating favorable conditions for its widespread promotion.
Talking about future vision, Professor Zheng hopes that Liverscan can become a device that ordinary people can use skillfully with simple training. His goal is to bring this instrument into thousands of households so that more people can receive early screening and intervention for liver diseases promptly, improve treatment effects, and thus save valuable resources for the medical system.
This interview not only raised the public’s awareness of the importance of early detection of liver diseases but also demonstrated the firm determination of Professor Zheng Yongping’s team to continue to innovate in the field of liver health and continuously promote the advancement of medical technology. In the future, Eieling Technology will increase research and development and investment to inject more vitality and power into the field of diagnosis and treatment of chronic liver diseases.
